Roster Shuffle Continues Ahead of Opening Night

With the start of a new NHL season now just a couple sleeps away, the Ottawa Senators are closing in on their Opening Night roster.

Ahead of yesterday’s roster deadline, there were a handful of moves that give us a good sense of who will suit up for that first game against the Tampa Bay Lightning on Thursday night. At the end of the day, it’s good news for the likes of Donovan Sebrango and Olle Lycksell and disappointment for Carter Yakemchuk. At least for now.

Both Drake Batherson and Tyler Kleven were placed on the injured reserve as part of the moves. Their status is unclear heading into the regular season but they were both on the ice for a good 45 minutes yesterday. If they do miss some time, it certainly doesn’t sound like it will be a long-term kind of thing.

Meanwhile, Jan Jenik, Hayden Hodgson, Arthur Kaliyev, Lassi Thomson, and Mads Søgaard all cleared waivers.

Here’s how the Senators lined up at yesterday’s practice.

Tkachuk-Stützle-Zetterlund
Perron-Cozens-Amadio
Greig-Pinto-Giroux
Cousins-Eller-MacDermid/Lycksell

Sanderson-Zub
Chabot-Jensen
Sebrango-Spence/Matinpalo
