Game Day- Preseason Continues in Ottawa

Undefeated in the Rookie Tournament. Another win in the preseason opener. Not to get ahead of ourselves here but we all know where this is headed.

The Ottawa Senators look to continue the longest winning streak in the history of professional sports when they host the most embarrassing franchise in the history of professional sports.

Tonight’s opponent, the Toronto Maple Leafs, hasn’t won a playoff series in 16 years. It’s not all bad news for their fans though as the team will be featured in the upcoming behind-the-scenes documentary, All For Nothing. Should be good.

The Senators still aren’t exactly icing their full NHL roster but it’s a little closer than the one that travelled to Winnipeg on Sunday.

The Stützle-Tierney-Brown line makes their preseason debut as does the newly formed trio of Zach Sanford, Colin White and Nick Paul. The blueline features the team’s “shutdown pair” in Michael Del Zotto and Nikita Zaitsev.

DJ Smith has the team on the ice for the morning skate and here’s how he has them lined up…

Stützle-Tierney-Brown
Sanford-White-Paul
Kelly-Ostapchuk-Sherwood
Goulbourne-Bishop-Sabourin

Del Zotto-Zaitsev
Aspirot-Brown
Brannstrom-Thomson

Filip Gustavsson is expected to get the start for the Senators with Mads Søgaard likely taking over at some point. You can see the Leafs line up here.

Tonight’s game is available on TSN4, TSN5 and on the radio at TSN1200. Those hoping to stream the festivities will be happy to know a group of friendly internet pirates will be providing links closer to game time.

Another alternative is heading down to the Canadian Tire Centre to catch the game in real life, which is officially a thing again. And at 50% capacity, it means a little extra space between you and obnoxious Leaf fans.

The HEAD2HEAD table is being given the night off.
