McElhinney Starts vs. Devils

The Ottawa Senators have been out of playoff contention for awhile now.

But tonight at Scotiabank Place, they have a chance to all but snuff out the Devils faint chances at a top eight finish. The Devils have been on a magical run, going 23-3-2 over their last 28, but a loss to Ottawa tonight would be a dagger to their playoff hopes.

While fans of the team have been left to watch the bottom of the standings, you can be sure the players in the locker room relish their role as spoiler late in the seasons.

The Devils currently sit six points back of the 8th place Sabres but they have a game in hand. Pretty much a must win for them tonight.

Couple line up changes for the Sens as Roman Wick and David Hale take the place of demoted players Jim O’Brien and Andre Benoit. Nice to see David Hale get another shot with the big time. He actually looked pretty good during his previous call up.

Would like to see Clouston give Roman Wick some top six minutes today. He can’t really show much when he’s on a fourth line with Francis Lessard. Will post the line combinations when they become available.

With Craig Anderson tweaking something (lower body) last game, Curtis McElhinney gets the start on home ice.

Puck drops at 7:38 PM.
