Tkachuk to Sign Entry Level Deal

His self-imposed deadline of August 12th has come and gone and it sounds like Ottawa’s top prospect has made up his mind.

While no official announcement has been made by the team yet, all signs point to first round pick Brady Tkachuk signing his entry level contract with the Senators.

It means Tkachuk will not return to Boston University in the fall and instead will turn pro at 18 years old.  A now-deleted Instagram post suggests that Tkachuk put pen to paper over the weekend.

Expect the Senators to make the signing official at some point today.

Leaving school was obviously a difficult decision for Tkachuk but where he plays next year is still very much up in the air.

He will be given a chance to crack the Ottawa line up this fall but it is by no means a slam dunk.  If he doesn’t make the team, Belleville becomes an option but so does London of the Ontario Hockey League. If that’s where he ends up, it might make sense to give him a nine game NHL tryout first.

One thing is for certain- with his entry level deal in place, Brady Tkachuk will be in Ottawa when Training Camp opens up next month.
