Senators Sign Pyatt for Two Years

The Ottawa Senators have locked up one of their pending unrestricted free agents ahead of the official opening of free agency on Saturday.

Tom Pyatt has signed a two year contract with the team with a cap hit of $1.1 million a season. He’ll earn $1 mil next season and then $1.2 in the second year of the deal.

Pyatt was one of Guy Boucher’s favourites and the team has made it clear since the end of the season that they were interested in bringing him back.

Pyatt played up and down the line up under Boucher and while his ice time was a little higher than you’d expect from a 3rd or 4th line guy, he can be an effective bottom six forward.  He finished the season with 9 goals and 23 points while averaging 8th most ice time (15:37) among Ottawa forwards.

The contract represents a slight raise over the $800,000 he made last season.
