Senators Sign Gustavsson for Two Years

Of the remaining RFAs, Filip Gustavsson certainly seemed to be drawing the least attention from Sens fans.

Mostly because it seemed like it should be a pretty straightforward negotiation. And on Sunday night, the two sides finally put pen to paper.

Filip Gustavsson has signed a two-year contract that’s a two-way deal in the first season and a one-way contract in year two.

Makes a lot of sense.

With Anton Forsberg on a one-year contract, it was pretty clear that a spot in the crease was there for the taking in the not top distant future. Based on what we saw from Gustavsson last year, he certainly has the inside track on that spot.

The now 23-year old Gustavsson appeared in nine games with Ottawa last season, posting a 5-1-2 record along with a 2.16 GAA and a .933 save percentage.

That leaves Brady Tkachuk, Drake Batherson and Logan Brown as the remaining RFAs.
