Senators Recall Christian Wolanin

You might think the Ottawa Senators play a game today but no, they do not.

The team that leads the league in back to backs this season has another random break in a month that has been full of them.  See it’s nice to have lots of days off early in the season when you don’t really need them but then have jam packed schedule in the second half. And by nice I mean completely ridiculous.

Anyway, I’ll have a talk with the league’s schedule maker.

In the meantime, some more roster tinkering ahead of the upcoming three game road trip.  Mark Borowiecki has been suspended for one game for his box out/head shot the other night against the Bruins meaning the Senators are short a defenceman.

Christian Wolanin has been recalled to fill the void.

Wolanin seemed like a lock heading into the preseason but was ultimately beaten out for the job by Max Lajoie.

To Wolanin’s credit, he went down to Belleville and played well, earning the call up this time around.  He has 3 points in 7 games down there and has looked good in the process.  Will be interesting to see how his game translates at the NHL level this time around.

Cody Ceci is also close to returning from his injury so we’ll see what Boucher has in mind for a line up when the Senators play the Colorado Avalanche tomorrow night.

Not tonight. TOMORROW NIGHT.
