Senators Claim Paajarvi From St. Louis

It’s safe to say that between now and the NHL trade deadline, there are going to be plenty of changes made to the Senators roster.

The first minor change came today as the Senators claimed forward Magnus Paajarvi off waivers from the St. Louis Blues.

First reaction to the move is obviously poor, poor Magnus. He goes from a contending St. Louis team to a team stuck at the bottom of the NHL standings.  It’s also likely a sign of things to come for the Senators.

With so many players on the trade block leading up to the deadline and the return expected to be a combination of picks and prospects, Dorion likely felt they could use another NHL option in the organization.

The 26 year old Paajarvi has four points in 44 games this season. He’s on a one year deal worth $800K and he’ll be an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season.
