Senators Announce Three Cuts

The Ottawa Senators are another step closer to their opening night line up.

This afternoon, they made a handful of roster moves, trimming three more forwards from their Training Camp roster.

Tyler Randell was placed on waivers and will be assigned to Belleville when he clears.  Filip Chlapik, who impressed Guy Boucher throughout Camp, is on his way to Belleville too. Chris VandeVelde was released from his professional tryout agreement.

If there is a surprise in the bunch, it continues to be 18 year old Alex Formenton. He turned 18 this month, by the way.  He’s ultimately headed back to Junior (right?!) but the fact that he’s managed to hang around this long is completely unexpected.  Logan Brown has looked good throughout the preseason and has certainly earned the extended look.

With today’s moves, the Senators now sit at 27 players including 3 goalies, 9 defenceman and 14 forwards.

Their next preseason game is scheduled for tomorrow night in Winnipeg.
