Predictions- Individual Point Projections

It’s finally here. The start of a new NHL season.

And while the real thing starts tomorrow night in Ottawa, there are four games around the league tonight. Actual hockey games to watch!

In the meantime, Sens fans have one more day to kill. With the chances of landing another forward down to like 34%, let’s shift the focus back to some more predictions for the upcoming season. As if an attempt to predict the standings wasn’t enough, I’ve decided to take it one step further.

Nothing gets people riled up quite like individual player point projections.

It’s almost entirely a guessing game. In-season injuries, trades and line shuffling make it almost impossible to project how a player might do over the course of an 82 game season but that certainly won’t stop me from trying.

I’ve left both Logan Brown and Alex Formenton off this list as it’s not clear if either of them will be here beyond the 9 game mark.  I’ve also left off Colin White, who could be back sometime next month, as well as any other potential call-ups. Just to keep it simple.

You’ll notice that I’m projecting increased production for the team as a whole, and especially at the top of the line up.  Most of that is attributed to a year of experience in Guy Boucher’s system and what I expect (hope?) will be an improved Ottawa power play.  Also, I’ve avoided predicting any significant injuries because well, that would just be unpleasant. And I predict Mark Borowiecki will double his goal total from last year.

As always, tell me why I’m wrong in the comment section below.
