Game Day- Struggling Senators Host Lightning

We all knew there would be some bumps in the road this year.

We knew that there would be moments where this rebuilding hockey team would struggle. Yesterday was much more than that.  There are bumps in the road and then there’s whatever the hell happened in Buffalo yesterday afternoon.

That really was one of the most humiliating losses in recent memory. It had an undeniable 1992 feel to it. They all stunk. And it wasn’t just that they played poorly because that will happen when you have a roster low on talent. They completely mailed it in. Zero effort and zero push-back when the game started getting away from them. Just really, really awful.

The good news is they play again tonight. The bad news is well, they play again tonight.

The Senators return home to the Canadian Tire Centre to take on the best team in the Eastern Conference, the Tampa Bay Lightning. Eeep.

It certainly won’t get any easier against one of the league’s best teams. In fact, a similar effort and they might give up 20.  Really interested to see how this team responds less than 24 hours after losing by a touchdown.

No Game Day skate today so we’ll have to wait until later this afternoon to know how they’ll line up.

A best guess for now…

Dzingel-Duchene-Stone
Pyatt-Tierney-Ryan
Paul-White-Boedker
McCormick-Paajarvi

Chabot-DeMelo
Lajoie-Ceci
Wideman-Jaros
Borowiecki

Starting goalie? No clue. And I suspect Guy Boucher feels the same way this morning.

Puck drop isn’t till 7:00 PM so at least they can’t ruin your afternoon. Sportsnet has the broadcast though so there goes your evening. The game is also available on TSN 1200 and streamed all across the dark corners of the interweb.

This table is nice and all but the contents are becoming somewhat concerning.  Anyway, here it is!
