Game Day- Sliding Senators Visit Blue Jackets

Earlier in the season, there was a brief glimmer of hope.

The Senators looked like they just might be able to prove some of the experts wrong. The young players were playing way above their collective head and the team was finding a way to defy some of the concerning trends in their underlying metrics.

But reality has started to hit this team in a big way.  It’s done that a lot lately.

The free-falling 30th place Ottawa Senators visit the Columbus Blue Jackets in their final game of 2018.

If I had the time, energy and desire, this section would include a half-hearted recap of the year that was for the Ottawa Senators. It would be mostly unpleasant and would likely lead you to reflect on why you bother with this dang team in the first place. But I will spare you the walk down memory lane and instead serve up an inspirational quote about the year to come.

For the Sens, 2019 might be better than 2018! Yes, that will do just fine.

Here’s how the Senators are expected to line up for this one.

Tkachuk-Tierney-Stone
White-Duchene-Ryan
Dzingel-Pyatt-Boedker
Paul-Smith-Rodewald

Lajoie-Ceci
Wolanin-DeMelo
Borowiecki-Harpur
Elliott

Marcus Hogberg gets a second straight start for the Senators. Puck drop is scheduled for just after 7:00 PM.

The game is available on TSN5, RDS2 and should you be one of the unlucky few with New Year’s Eve plans, you can probably stream it online somewhere.

Happy New Year, folks!
