Game Day- Senators Visit Red-Hot Coyotes

This three game road trip has not been kind to the Ottawa Senators.

A once hopeful young squad has been buried under a barrage of opposition shots. The rebuild, which appeared to be headed in the right direction, has completely gone off the rails to the point where the organization must revisit the “Ottawa Rising” slogan.  Jerseys have been burned and billboards are going up all over the City.

Yes indeed, these last two games have been hard on the Senators.

But they can change all that with a solid effort against the Glendale Coyotes. Biggest game of the year? Well duh.

Tonight’s opposition certainly shouldn’t be taken lightly.  Despite their ho-hum 5-5-0 record, the Coyotes have actually been playing some decent hockey of late. Vindication for their General Manager Jon-E-Shakka.

Where was I?

Right, the Coyotes.

They’ve reeled off three straight victories including a 7-1 beatdown of the Tampa Bay Lightning.  They’ve actually outscored their opponent by a 15-3 count over their last three games. And they’ve done it all without Shayne Doan, who has apparently been retired for a couple years now.

Meanwhile, the Senators begin life without Mark Borowiecki. Again.  Borowiecki was handed a fairly absurd three game suspension for his very hard bodycheck the other night.  Christian Wolanin is with the team in Arizona and likely has a chance to draw in tonight.

We’ll find out more when the Senators hit the ice for their morning skate, scheduled for later this afternoon. Hmm.  A best guess at the line up for now.
