Game Day – Senators Visit Blue Jackets in Columbus

A little bit more each day.

If the Ottawa Senators are ever going to turn this thing around, not this year but like ever, that’s the mindset they’ll have to take as an organization. Whether it’s Ownership adding to the front office, the front office tinkering with the roster, coaches changing the approach or the players finding another level, everyone has to consider how they can give a whole lot more.

Because this season just hasn’t been good enough. For anyone.

For a long time, it felt like the direction was clear. Like each season was building towards something. This year did not feel that way even a little bit. For the core that has been assembled here in Ottawa, this was a huge step back.

And now, it’s up to these guys to figure where we go from here.

Although, hypothetically, if they wanted to give LESS one more time, a road game against the team 2 points below them in the standings might be a good time. The Ottawa Senators visit the Columbus Blue Jackets on Thursday night.

Morning skate at 11:30 AM so we’ll confirm the lineup then. Parker Kelly is eligible to come back from his suspension which means Jiri Smejkal has been returned to Belleville. Zack Ostapchuk gets another chance of a strong and responsible showing in his NHL debut.

A best guess for now…

Tkachuk-Pinto-Batherson
Joseph-Stützle-Giroux
Greig-Ostapchuk-Kubalik
Kelly-Kastelic-Katchouk

Sanderson-Zub
Chychrun-Guenette
Brannstrom-Bernard Docker

Joonas Korpisalo seems like a good choice to start against his old team.

Puck drop is scheduled for 7:08 PM. The game is available on TSN5 and on the radio at TSN1200. Links to stream the game will be sent directly to your SensChirp Premium account. Wondering how these teams match-up but worried the standings aren’t telling the WHOLE story.

Well, they are. These teams stink.
