The calendar says November and the Ottawa Senators have fallen on hard times.
After a month and a half of encouraging signs, the Sens have hit a slide of sorts. Four straight losses and a feeling of “here we go again” is starting to set in for the fan base.
Except fuck that. No. Not again. Not this time.
This isn’t like other years. This isn’t like those other teams. This year, it’s going to be different.
Say it. Yes, you. Say it. Speak it into existence.
It’s going to be different.
Okay, that’s step one. Vibes.
Now, here’s what I need you to do next. At some point today, do something unusually nice for somebody else. Someone in your family. A stranger. Maybe a local charity that you like. It doesn’t matter what it is, just do something nice for someone else.
That’s step two. Karma.
Lastly, I need you to break out the luckiest game day routine you have. Maybe there’s a lucky jersey that you save for special occasions? A certain person that you watch with that always leads to a win? A lucky charm perhaps? Whatever weird superstition you usually save for big games. Do that today.
That’s step three. Luck.
Vibes. Karma. Luck. This season needs a hard reset and I think it’s on us. Report back in the comment section below.
The Ottawa Senators host the Vancouver Canucks on Saturday night.
Looks like there will be one change on the blueline and a bit of a shuffle in the forward lines ahead of this one. This is as good a time as any, I’d say. Travis Hamonic draws back in and Jacob Bernard-Docker sits. The forward lines are in the proverbial blender.
