Game Day- Senators, Islanders at the CTC

They have stumbled their way around the last bend and after briefly finding their footing on that final straight away, they are down again.

Five straight losses.  Each one uglier than the last.

This is the home stretch, Sens fans.  The finish line is finally, mercifully, within sight.

Just seven games remaining in the regular season.

The time for “entertaining efforts” and “moral victories” and “impressive individual performances” is long gone.  It’s time for the Ottawa Senators to lose every single one of their remaining games. Preferably by two or three goals so as to avoid a lucky bounce late in the game.

It won’t be fun for the players. And it will be painful to watch. But hopefully it will all pay off with a few extra entries in the lottery on April 28th.

Ladies and gentlemen…whether we like it or not…this is a tank.

There was a time about a week ago when it looked like a 31st place finish was out of reach but things have started to break the way of Tank Nation the last little while.  First of all, the Senators look completely incapable of winning a hockey game ever again.  And at the same time, both Arizona and Buffalo are inexplicably finding ways to bank points. Buffalo won in Toronto? Arizona beats Tampa Bay. Unthinkable.

The door has been left open just a crack and now it’s time for the Senators to tumble right down those stairs to the basement.

Next up- John Tavares and the New York Islanders.

No game day skate for the Senators this morning because they are playing what feels like their 185th back to back of the season.

We’ll assume the same line up for now.

Dzingel-Duchene-Ryan
Smith-Pageau-Hoffman
Paajarvi-Chlapik-Pyatt
McCormick-Sexton-Burrows

Chabot-Ceci
Harpur-Borowiecki
Wolanin-Claesson

Mike Condon is expected to start for the Senators. I have placed a call to the NHL Head Office to see if we can prevent the puck from dropping.  If that doesn’t work, expect it to drop just after 7:30 PM.
