Game Day – Senators Host Penguins on Tuesday Night

One thing I can say with complete confidence is that the love is unconditional.

Because here we are, on a Tuesday in mid-March, preparing ourselves for yet another meaningless game of ice hockey. It’s something we have become accustomed to around these parts but it really seemed like this year might be different. Ultimately, it was different. Somehow, it was even worse. With even fewer “meaningful games”. Remarkable really.

The Ottawa Senators continue the season from hell, this time on home ice against former/future-Senator Erik Karlsson and the rest of the Pittsburgh Penguins.

In this section of the Game Day post, I would traditionally include a tidbit or two about the upcoming game and something to elevate interest but there’s honestly, not a whole lot. The Senators are playing out the string and the dreaded T-word has once again entered the fan discourse. The good news is the Penguins are also in the midst of a season-ruining tailspin so we’re not alone in our despair.

Oh! Zack Ostapchuk is making his NHL debut tonight so that’s a thing. Here’s how the good guys will line up for this one

Tkachuk-Pinto-Batherson
Joseph-Stutzle-Giroux
Greig-Ostapchuk-Kubalik
Katchouk-Kastelic-Smejkal

Sanderson-Zub
Chychrun-Guenette
Brannstrom-Bernard Docker

Joonas Korpisalo is expected to start.

Puck drop is scheduled for 7:08 PM tonight at The Tire. The game is available on TSN5 and TSN1200 and on StreamThoseSens.org. If you really wanna get wild, this game is being played in the city in which we reside, which means in-person attendance is both acceptable and feasible.

Here’s a table.
