Game Day- East Final Continues in Ottawa

If there was any lingering doubt around the hockey world that the Ottawa Senators belong, Game 3 emphatically erased that.

GO SENS GO!

On home ice, the Senators looked like a team on a mission.  They came out flying on Wednesday night and took it to the Penguins in that first period and then cruised the rest of the way.  It was one of their most complete efforts of these playoffs and a performance that has to give the team a ton of confidence.

But in the end, it was only one win.

The challenge for the Senators will be finding a way to match that intensity and desperation from last game against what should be a desperate Penguins team. Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Final goes tonight at the Canadian Tire Centre.

GO SENS GO!!

Based on what we saw a couple nights ago, it’s safe to say this team got a huge lift from their home town fans.  That was as good as Ottawa has started a game all year and according to people in the rink, it was as loud as the CTC has ever been.

Every player in that locker room talked about the energy they got from the crowd and how big a factor it was in their Game 3 win. Expecting more of the same from Sens fans tonight.

Guy Boucher’s team will be on the ice for an optional morning skate at 10:30 AM and he’ll meet with the media shortly after to update on any potential line up changes.

Alex Burrows left Game 3 with a lower body injury and his status for this one is up in the air.  Boucher sounded optimistic after the game and again yesterday but I suspect we won’t find out until later in the day.  If he can’t go, one of Ryan Dzingel or Tommy Wingels will take his spot. No changes expected on the blueline unless Mark Borowiecki makes a surprise return.

We’ll confirm the line up later today.

Craig Anderson gets the start in the Ottawa goal. Puck drop is scheduled for just after 8:00 PM.

The Friday before a long weekend and a Senators playoff game in late May. Doesn’t get much better than this, Ottawa.
