After all the twists and turns and delays and weird celebrity cameos, it finally happened. Or almost happened anyway.
Fittingly, it’s a tweet from Bruce Garrioch (who has covered the hell out of this story over the last what feels like an eternity) that made it official.
Andlauer has been sitting in the driver’s seat for a couple weeks now but with today’s news, he’ll officially have the keys in hand.
With the start of a new season now just a few weeks away, the expectation is that Andlauer will continue the process of not only reviewing the existing personnel within the organization but also adding people to support in certain areas.
Sean Tierney was already hired to lead on the analytics side of things and the Cyril Leeder is likely to rejoin the organization on the business side. Daniel Alfredsson has also met with Andlauer on a couple of occasions and will basically be allowed to do whatever the hell he wants. Peter Chiarelli’s name has been floating around too.
Andlauer and his partners will be introduced at a press conference at 11:00 AM this morning at the Canadian Tire Centre.
