Busy day on the goaltending front.
This morning, the Senators announced that Marcus Hogberg has been recalled from Belleville of the American Hockey League. Hogberg appeared in a couple games with the BSens over the weekend, winning both his starts and posting a .950 save percentage along the way.
Meanwhile, Filip Gustavsson, who did an outstanding job in some surprise playing time in Ottawa, was reassigned to Belleville.
There are some changes on the Coaching side too. Pierre Groulx has been reassigned to a scouting role with Zac Bierk taking over the role of goalie coach.
Here’s Pierre Dorion on the move…
“Unfortunately, a number of our goaltending performances this season have been underwhelming. I think very highly of Pierre Groulx, he’s as dedicated and tireless a worker as anyone in the organization, but we recently reached a point where we thought a fresh outlook could help return some stability to our crease.”
Yikes.
Bierk spent a couple seasons with the Arizona Coyotes as their Goaltending Development Coach. He also appeared in 47 NHL games over the course of six seasons.
