It may have been the sensible number of over-priced beers I consumed but there was something special about that game against the Washington Capitals.
Glance at the scoreboard and you might think it was just a run-of-the-mill Thursday night game down at The Tire. Wrong. Walking out of the building, I couldn’t help but feel like I had just watched one of the best games the Sens have played all season. The pace and execution was on another level. Just an awesome combination of speed and skill and a case of two really good hockey teams going head to head.
The Ottawa Senators will look to build on that effort when they play a massive Saturday afternoon game against the Boston Bruins.
The stakes are fairly self-evident today.
Heading into Saturday’s action, the Sens sit just one point back of the Bruins for the second Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference. Ottawa has a couple games in hand. And with four teams close behind, this is about trying to keep pace to it too.
No Game Day skate with the early start so lineup changes will be a last minute sort of thing. Seems like there is a decent chance Thomas Chabot returns.

Puck drop is scheduled for 3:08. The game is on Sportsnet, CBC and on the radio at TSN1200. Still tickets/over-priced beers available if live hockey is more your thing.
The HEAD2HEAD table is a game-time decision.
