With the start of a new NHL season now a little less than a month away, the Ottawa Senators have announced the hiring of a familiar face.
This morning, the Sens announced that Chris Kelly has been hired as a Player Development Coach. Kelly will support Shean Donovan and oversee and support the progress of prospects throughout the Senators system.
This is a solid hire by the organization.
Kelly is a Stanley Cup Champion and a respected veteran. By all accounts, he is exactly the type of professional you want your young prospects learning from. Kelly was respected everywhere he played and always a presence in the locker room.
Kelly suited up for 845 games in the NHL and recently Captained Team Canada at the Olympics.
Also, the Senators hired someone!
