New Head Coach DJ Smith has started to fill out his staff.
This morning, the Ottawa Senators announced that they have hired Jack Capuano as an Associate Coach.
Here’s DJ Smith on the hiring
“Jack brings a wealth of coaching experience in the National Hockey League and is a great fit with our staff,” said Senators head coach D.J. Smith. “Our goal was to bring in someone who has been an NHL head coach – Jack has that experience and much more. He’s played defence, run a defence and run a penalty kill. He is a detailed, hard-working guy who players enjoy working with. We are happy to have Jack here in Ottawa to help with the growth and development of this team.”
Capuano spent the last couple seasons as an associate coach with the Florida Panthers and prior to that, was a Head Coach with the New York Islanders for seven seasons.
With a first time Head Coach in DJ Smith, it’s certainly nice that they are able to round out the staff with a guy that has significant experience as a Head Coach.
