And then there were 27.
Following last night’s win over the Vancouver Canucks, the Ottawa Senators have announced four more cuts to their training camp roster.
Marcus Hogberg, Nick Paul, Jordan Szwarz and Parker Kelly are all heading to Belleville. Both Paul and Szwarz will be required to clear waivers first.
No big surprises in the four names announced this morning.
Of that group, Nick Paul probably had the best chance at cracking the roster this season but he just didn’t do enough to stand out over the last two weeks.
Parker Kelly made a good impression and is the type of player that could get a call-up later in the season if a bottom six spot opens up. He’ll be an important player for the BSens this season.
With today’s moves, the Senators now have 27 players left which includes three injured guys in Christian Wolanin, Rudolfs Balcers and Vitaly Abramov.
Logan Brown, Drake Batherson, Filip Chlapik, Scott Sabourin, Erik Brannstrom and Cody Goloubef are all sticking around for now.
The Senators close out the preseason on Saturday against the Montreal Canadiens.
