After three days of practice, the Ottawa Senators finally have an actual preseason game to play.
They’ll host the Montreal Canadiens tonight at the Canadian Tire Centre.
After tonight, there are just three more tune-up games remaining including Monday in Prince Edward Island, Wednesday in Winnipeg and then next Saturday in Montreal.
With four preseason games left to play, the clock is ticking on a handful of guys looking to crack the opening night line up.
The Camp was broken into two groups earlier this week, giving us a sense of which players the Coaching Staff really wants to get a look at over the next couple weeks.
Logan Brown, Filip Chlapik, and Chris VandeVelde are in the mix up front. Alex Formenton is there too but he’s headed back to Junior eventually. On defence, Ben Harpur and Thomas Chabot are the two guys with the main group fighting for a spot.
And while those five are at the front of the pack, Boucher has mentioned on a few occasions that there’s still an opportunity for guys outside the main group to step up and make an impression.
Tonight’s line up features a mix of the A and B group with as many as 11 locks expected play.
You can see the full roster for tonight’s game here. We’ll find out how Boucher plans to line then up at the morning skate at 10:30 AM.
