Game Day- Senators, Blues at CTC

The schedule facing the Ottawa Senators is pretty daunting over the next couple weeks.

They got off to a good start against one of the best teams in the West on Tuesday night.  They’ll welcome another Western powerhouse on Saturday afternoon at the Canadian Tire Centre.

The St. Louis Blues are expected to be a contender in the Western Conference and have got off to a solid start this season.  Their 12-6-1 record has them sitting second in the Central Division, just a point back of the Nashville Predators.  The line of Tarasenko, Schwartz and Leherta has been deadly for the Blues.  Tarasenko especially has been a human highlight reel scoring jaw-dropping goals all season.  He’s got 11 goals and 22 points through 19 games.  Shutting down that line will be key to the Senators’ success this afternoon.

On the Ottawa side of things, it sounds like the plan is to go with the same line up that beat the Predators on Thursday night.  Curtis Lazar was at practice yesterday but seemed to be pretty limited in his participation.  That means Colin Greening gets another chance on a line with David Legwand and Bobby Ryan.  No morning skate for the Senators today so we’ll have to wait until game time to know for sure but here’s how Paul MacLean is expected to line his team up.

Robin Lehner gets a second straight start in the Ottawa goal.  Puck drop is scheduled for just after 3:00 PM with the game available on TSN5.

-Not exactly sure how it’s going to happen but the Ottawa Senators are absolutely going to make things “right” with Daniel Alfredsson.  No official announcement yet but it sounds like Alfie could officially hang ’em up as early as Monday. It’s sad to see it end this way for Alfredsson but also nice to know the Senators will play an active role in the announcement. The Senators are in Detroit on Monday night and the Red Wings are back here in Ottawa on December 27th.
