That win over the New York Islanders was a long time coming for the Ottawa Senators.
Almost three weeks in fact. And it certainly didn’t come easily.
It took a career first from Thomas Chabot, two season firsts from Zack Smith and Bobby Ryan, an unexpected two goal night from Ryan Dzingel, a rare two goal output by the Ottawa power play and a remarkable pinch hit performance from Mike Condon to get it done. When you go 20 days between wins, that slump-buster is never easy. But the Senators found a way.
Now they have something to build off of as they take on the high-flying Winnipeg Jets.
Winnipeg has been one of the league’s most impressive teams in the early part of this season. They are tied for top spot in the West coming into tonight’s game and have talent throughout their line up. Oh and they’ve scored seven goals in two of their last three games.
They’ll give the Senators everything they can handle tonight in what can be one of the toughest buildings to play in anywhere in the NHL.
Guy Boucher met with the media in Winnipeg yesterday and indicated that tonight’s line up is still up in the air. They have a couple players, including Bobby Ryan, that are dealing with minor injuries that may keep them out.

Mike Condon gets the start in goal for Ottawa and based on Boucher’s comments yesterday, has an opportunity to take the ball and run with it if he can continue to play well.
