(UPDATE 10:29 AM)– It’s a rumour that started making the rounds last night and it has Sens fans a little on edge. Aaron Portzline, a Columbus beat guy, has suggested that the Senators may have interest in Columbus tough guy Jared Boll. Boll was recently bought out by the Jackets and is coming off a 3 point season. 14 points is his career high.
So apparently the NHL’s free agent market opens today?
While it seems like it will be a quiet one for the Ottawa Senators, the start of Free Agency is always an interesting day around the National Hockey League.
It’s become one of the busiest days of the off-season as teams around the league desperately try to fill holes in their line up and pay big money to do it. For a budget team like the Senators, it’s not usually the time to make a big splash and based on some of the talk out there this morning, today will be no different.
Ottawa would like to add a bottom pairing defenceman and maybe a third line forward but they’re not going to break the bank to do it.
But who knows? Maybe Pierre Dorion has a surprise or two in store for us today? As always, updates will be added at the top of this post and I’ll be sure to pass along any rumours I hear in the comment section below.
Happy Canada Day/Free Agent Frenzy!
