Everything that could go wrong for the Senators did in Game 4.
Despite being up 2-1 at the end of twenty minutes, you could tell the Senators were playing with fire. If not for the play of Craig Anderson, this game could have been ugly right off the bat. The good news is, they ain't dead yet.
Despite a debacle of a performance on home ice, they now have a chance to go into Pittsburgh and make life real difficult for the Penguins. Win a game and drag them back to Ottawa, kickin' and screamin'.
It's that simple.
The experts love to talk about how rare it is to come back from 3-1 but that's not what the Senators need to do. They need to win one game. And I don't have the stats in front of me but I'm pretty damn sure teams win one game all the f'in time.
Much was made about the post game comments by Daniel Alfredsson after last night's loss. Complete and utter horse sh*t if you ask me, and by visiting my website, you kind of did. The Captain saying probably not doesn't mean definitely not and you have to listen to the rest of the quote to see what Alfie was getting at. Playing up the underdog role like they have done all series.
Nothing to see here.
And for those suggesting this might be Alfredsson's last year? Don't think so. People I have talked with indicate that the team expects him back next season. While I don't believe he's "officially" made up his mind, his health, this team, and outdoor game and the Olympics will all help sway him in the direction of one more season.
MacLean spoke to the media this afternoon and confirmed that Craig Anderson will be his goalie for Game 5.
And for the fans of this team- save your post-mortem. Too many times we've seen this team do incredible things to count them out now. This team has made many experts look stupid over the past couple seasons. It's time to do it again.
Like MacLean said, they are going to Pittsburgh and they're gonna play.
Go. Sens. Go.
