After closing out the Swedish Elite League finals with another goal and a game winner at that, it appears as though Sens prospect Jakob Silfverberg is on his way to join the Ottawa Senators.
According to tweets from Steve Lloyd, Silfverberg could be available to the Sens as early as Game 6, scheduled for Monday night. While there is no guarantee he would actually draw into the Ottawa line up, you would have to think MacLean at least toys with the idea of adding some serious skill and finish to the team’s top six.
Silfverberg is coming off a massive season with Brynas and one that culminated with an MVP performance in the playoffs.
With the regular season MVP already under his belt, Silfverberg continued his dominance in the post season, scoring 13 goals and breaking an SEL record held by Daniel Alfredsson in the process.
There was some question over whether or not Silfverberg might stick around to play with the Swedish National Team but according to tweets this morning, the Swedish club will allow him to head to Ottawa. Contract isn't a problem either as this season already counts as the first on his entry level contract.
Would you insert Silfverberg into the line up?
