With the new season now just a couple days away, the Ottawa Senators made a stop in London on their way to Detroit. The club held their practice at the John Labatt Centre, home of the OHL's London Knights.
Peter Regin skated for the second straight day but is still considered doubtful for the opener against the Wings.
For the second straight day, Bobby Butler skated on the fourth line for the Sens. Butler had a fairly quiet preseason and has quickly seen himself slide down the right wing depth chart. For Butler to be successful, he is going to need to play with skilled players.
Looks like MacLean wants to make sure Butler earns that ice time.
According to Sylvain St. Laurent, the Sens practiced the power play a little bit at practice this morning. The first power play unit featured Gonchar and Karlsson on the points with Spezza, Filatov and Michalek up front. Safe to assume that will be the first power play unit on opening night.
- Have seen a few reports suggesting the Rangers are looking for a defenceman to shore up their blueline. Before anyone gets excited, it will not be Filip Kuba. I was recently told that while Murray has made calls regarding Kuba, there is no interest right now.
- Thanks to those of you that signed up for the first SensChirp Fantasy Hockey League. Unfortunately we could only take 20 people so my apologies to people that did not have a chance to sign up. Will have news on a prize for the pool in the coming days.
