As the Ottawa Senators get some much needed rest and await their second round opponent, I wanted to pass along a cool initiative started and led by Sens fans.
If you haven't heard, Sens Money on the Board (or #SensMotB) is the latest twitter craze sweeping its way through Sens Army. The premise is simple- fans make pledges based on things that will happen in Ottawa Senators hockey games.
If those things happen, the fan makes their donation directly to the Sens Foundation which uses it to help support their community based initiatives.
With the Sens on their way to the second round, the SensMotB is ramping up. @BonksMullet of Twitter fame, and the good folks over at Silver Seven Sens have a bunch of cool prizes you could win if you help them promote this fantastic initiative.
The hilarious list of prizes includes the following…
- Autographed Daniel Alfredsson hockey card
- $30 value Sens prize pack from Flag King
- The now famous 'The Stache" t-shirt from the613.com
- A slighty-used old-school CCM white Senators jersey signed by Magnus "Best Swedish Senator" Arvedson donated by @Dr_Habs
- A puck signed by David Rundblad (See the "Puck drop" contest below)
- 10 David "Calder Trophy Lock" Rundblad signed hats
- 10 Alex "don't call me Captain" Picard signed hats
- 10 Jonathan Cheechoo signed hats (Best prize)
- 5 Pascale Leclaire signed hats (No returns accepted)
- 4 Shean "still hasn't tweeted" Donovan signed hats
Here here to get more details on #SensMotB and to get involed.
- In case you missed it yesterday finally some good news on the Jason Spezza rehab front. The Sens top centre is skating with the other black aces and seems to have finally taken a significant step towards a return to the line up. While Paul MacLean tempered expectations a little bit today, a second round return is not out of the question.
- The Sens could know their second round opponent by the end of this evening's games. If the Penguins beat the Islanders, Ottawa will face the high flying Pittsburgh team in the second round. Here's hoping the Isles can push that series to a 7th game.
- Posted this last night but it's worth sharing again- This video was taken as the Sens finished off the Montreal Canadiens in Game 5 of their series. The atmosphere at The Senate Tavern was absolutely amazing and this video gives you a glimpse.
