The Ottawa Senators play their second to last home game of the season tonight when the Eastern Conference leading Philadelphia Flyers roll into town for a 7:30 start. The Sens will have a few line up changes for this one as the late season injuries begin to pile up.
Erik Karlsson, Sergei Gonchar and Marek Svatos will all be out of the line up. Craig Anderson gets the nod in goal.
The Sens have recalled Patrick Wiercioch, Andre Benoit and Roman Wick from the farm. Colin Greening is expected to dress in the final two games for the Sens.
The home side will be in tough tonight against one of the league’s best in the Flyers. With just three games left on their schedule, the Flyers are trying to lock down the #1 seed in the conference so they should be a motivated bunch.
Meanwhile on the Sens side of things all eyes remain fixed on the bottom five spots in the league. The Senators are tied with the Panthers in points and trail the Islanders by just two. Florida and Long Island are both off tonight. The 29th ranked Avalanche are in St. Louis.
Even though there is little left to play for, it would be nice to see the Sens give a good effort on home ice tonight. As long and as painful as this season has been in the Nation’s Capital, I think we all know we will miss them when they are gone. There is a lengthy off season ahead so lets enjoy the games while we can.
GO SENS GO!
