After the Senators shocked the Montreal Canadiens in Game 1, you knew the Habs would come out flying in the second game of the series.
Montreal did exactly that on Saturday night as they cruised to a 3-1 win. While the Sens would have loved to take both games at the Bell Centre, a split in Montreal is a great outcome for the Senators as the series shifts to Ottawa for Game 3 on Sunday night.
Just an optional skate for the Sens today with the majority of guys opting to take the day to rest.
There was some good news though as the injured Mike Hoffman returned to the practice ice. If Hoffman is ready to play, that gives Head Coach Paul MacLean another line up option heading into Game 3.
With the Binghamton season now wrapped up, as many as ten players are expected to join the big club to get a taste of the playoff atmosphere. The list of call ups includes Nathan Lawson, Mark Borowiecki, Cody Ceci, Stephane Da Costa, David Dziurzynski, Derek Grant, Stefan Noesen, Shane Prince and Matt Puempel.
On Saturday the Habs got a lift from their hometown crowd and Ottawa will be hoping for that same kind of energy in their barn tomorrow night. The Senators now have home ice advantage in this series and need to take care of business.
- As you know, last night I was lucky enough to take in Game 2 of this series at the Bell Centre in Montreal. An incredible atmosphere in that building from start to finish and a surprisingly civil crowd in attendance. While there were playful shots tossed our way at times, it was never anything more than that. It was also good to see so many other Sens fans in the building. While we were massively outnumbered, the fans that did make the trip were loud and proud. I expect more of the same as the scene shifts to SBP for Games 3 and 4.
