(UPDATE 10:14 AM)- You can go ahead and cross Caps forward Brooks Laich off the list of UFA targets. The rugged forward has signed a six year extension with the Washington Capitals. Cap hit will be $4.5 mil. Laich was believed to be one of the top UFA targets heading into July 1.
As I mentioned on Twitter earlier this afternoon, the Sens issued qualifying offered to all of the restricted free agents with the exception of Cody Bass, Jason Bailey and Ryan Potulny.
That means the other five players received offers including Bobby Butler, Eric Condra, Roman Wick, Geoff Kinrade and Kaspars Daugavins.
After the magical run the guys down in Binghamton went on this Spring, Bryan Murray and the Sens had to make some tough decisions. Bass and Potulny both played key roles in the teams march to the Calder Cup and the decision the let them walk was not an easy one.
Potulny and Bass will likely receive offers from elsewhere.
Wish I could have updated the site a little sooner but I spent the afternoon on Eagle Creek Golf Course in a Nine and Dine put on by the Ottawa Senators. The event was attended by a number of Sens prospects including Mark Stone, Jakob Silfverberg, Ben Blood, Corey Cowick and Stephan Da Costa.
Each of those guys will attend the Sens Development Camp which gets under way starting tomorrow morning.
The roster and schedule for the Camp can be found here.
And just a quick reminder for those of you that aren’t already- you can follow SensChirp on Twitter right here.
