As expected, the Ottawa senators have named Dave Cameron and Mark Reeds as Assistant Coaches. They join new bench boss Paul MacLean in what will be a new look coaching staff in Ottawa next season.
The hiring of Cameron has been a hot button topic in Ottawa but I have heard mostly good things about him as a coach. Hard working guy that seems like a good fit. Don’t know much about Reeds but he was the OHL Coach of the Year in Owen Sound this past season and has a relationship with MacLean.
Luke Richardson will stay on with the Sens as a part time assistant while Rick Wamsley will return as the club’s Goaltending Coach.
A day after releasing the preseason schedule, the NHL has released the complete schedule for the 2011/2011 Regular Season. The Ottawa Senators will open up the season on October 7th against Paul MacLean’s former team in the Detroit Red Wings. They take on the Leafs the following night.
As I mentioned before, the Sens will play their home opener against the Minnesota Wild on Tuesday, October 11.
