As expected, the Ottawa Senators have earned some hardware in the first half of the NHL's yearly awards.
Paul MacLean took home the Jack Adams Award for best coach and the team's captain, Daniel Alfredsson was recognized with the Messier Leadership Award. Fantastic recognition for the Sens after a special season in the Nation's Capital.
MacLean beat out Chicago bench boss Joel Quenneville and Anaheim head coach Bruce Boudreau to capture Coach of the Year honours.
MacLean was able to keep his team focused and effective despite a ridiculous run of injuries that threatened to derail their season. Extending Coach MacLean has been identified as a priority for Bryan Murray this off season.
Alfredsson meanwhile edged other finalists in Dustin Brown and Jonathan Toews to capture the Messier Leadership Award.
Fans in Ottawa have known just how good a leader this guy is for a long time but with last year's All Star Game and now this award, Alfredsson is finally getting recognized as one of the best Captains in the game today.
Congratulations to Paul and Daniel on their awards!
