With the results of the NHLPA vote expected to be made official this morning, the beginning of the NHL season is now so close fans can taste it.
In Ottawa, the players are expected to take part on voluntary physicals today to help get the mini training camp underway. With that task out of the way, Paul MacLean and the rest of the coaching staff will be set to officially begin training camp on Sunday afternoon.
A reminder that first skate and all subsequent sessions will be available to the public. It will be a great chance for fans to get a look at this year's team as they get up to speed for the NHL season.
While the full training camp list has not yet been announced by the club, the names of the players coming from the BSens and the Junior ranks were released last night by @SensProspects on Twitter. That list includes Stefan Noesen, Cody Ceci, Jakob Silfverberg, Mike Hoffman, Patrick Wiercioch, Mark Borowiecki, Andre Benoit, Robin Lehner and Ben Bishop.
Both Patrick Wiercioch and Mark Borowiecki scored in a shootout loss last night in Binghamton. Notable absences include Mark Stone and Stephane Da Costa.
Eugene Melnyk is expected to address the media Sunday at 11:00 AM at which point fans can expect full details on the Senators schedule as well as what the organization has planned in the way of promotions.
Last night the club briefly posted a list of dates and opponents for the team's first ten home games. That includes Florida on Jan 21, Pittsburgh on Jan 27, Washington on Jan 29, Montreal on Jan 30, Boston on February 5, Carolina on Feb 7, Winnipeg on Feb 9, Buffalo on Feb 12, New York Islanders on Feb 19 and the New York Rangers on Feb. 21
