(UPDATE 8:22 PM)- The Sens made the first round of cuts today, sending four players back to their Junior teams. The group includes goalies Chris Driedger (WHL-Calgary), Francois Brassard (QMJHL-Quebec), forward Vincent Dunn (QMJHL-Quebec) and defenceman Ben Harpur (OHL-Guelph).
Some Senators news to pass along this afternoon as the club has signed first round pick Curtis Lazar to an entry level contract.
The Sens drafted Lazar with the 17th overall selection in this year’s Entry Draft and have had nothing but good things to say about him since. Lazar is likely headed back to Junior and is expected to be in the mix when Team Canada selects their World Junior team in a couple months.
Lazar had a strong rookie camp so here’s hoping we get a chance to see him in one or more preseason game before he heads back to his Junior. Sounds like there is a chance he could play on Thursday night against the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Not a bad time to make your debut.
You can find more information on the signing, including quotes from Sens GM Bryan Murray, right here.
