The Ottawa Senators close out their home schedule tonight when they play host to the playoff-bound Montreal Canadiens at Scotiabank Place. Not much on the line tonight but it should be a good atmosphere as the Habs role into town.
Puck drop is at 7:08 PM.
Earlier this morning the Sens recalled five players from the Binghamton Senators of the AHL. Bingo locked up their playoff spot last night with an OT win over Norfolk. Greening, Condra, Hale, Smith and Benoit will all be in the line up for the Senators tonight.
Montreal locked up their playoff spot in their last contest but are still fighting for positioning with the Sabres and Rangers. For Ottawa, they can still move around a little bit at the bottom of the standings but the way the Islanders and Panthers are playing it looks like a 26th place finish is the most likely result.
Ottawa will go with Craig Anderson in goal. Montreal counters with Alex Auld.
No word on how the Sens will line up for this one but you would expect Greening and Butler to line up on the top line with Spezza. Should be interesting to see if Da Costa gets any more ice time than he did on Tuesday night. Not sure he played a single shift in the second period and only saw the ice once late in the third.
Speaking of bizarre coaching decisions, it really sounds like Clouston’s fate has been decided. There are rumours out there that suggest he won’t even perform the traditional exit interviews with players.
Despite the late season surge, the writing has been on the wall for Clouston for awhile. All season I talked about issues between Clouston and the players and even with some of the vets gone, it’s hard to imagine he will be back. He is an extremely hard -working guy though who will land on his feet somewhere.
