Erik Karlsson spoke to the media this morning for the first time since the incident that ended his season.
Based on the comments from the reigning Norris Trophy winner, it’s pretty clear that he’s not quite ready to forgive and forget. While Karlsson would not go so far as to say Matt Cooke injured him on purpose, he did say that Cooke “knew exactly what he was doing out there.”
Obviously some strong words from a clearly frustrated Karlsson. The Sens defenceman feels that it was a play that could have been avoided and from a player that has been out to get him before.
While Karlsson is going to take some heat for today’s comments, you have to admire his honesty on the issue. The league’s best defenceman had his season ended prematurely and he has every right to be disappointed. The good news is Karlsson expects a full recovery.

- Couple roster moves from the Senators this morning. The team has recalled goaltender Robin Lehner from Binghamton and reassigned forward Stephane Da Costa. Da Costa played the least of any Senator last night against the Rangers.
