After a couple days of minor signings, it looks like today may end up being a pretty slow day in Sens land.
Jared Cowen and Stephane Da Costa still need contracts but other than that, things are quiet around the team right now. With that in mind, I’d like to bring your attention to a really interesting interview from earlier this morning on The Team 1200. CBC’s Elliotte Friedman stopped by TGOR to discuss a few topics including Alfredsson, Spezza’s Team Canada snub and the acquisition of Bobby Ryan.
I won’t summarize the whole interview but Friedman had some significant things to say about how the Alfredsson departure went down and the possibility that tension between JP Barry and Eugene Melnyk may have played a role.
He also talked touched on how the Sens reacted to what they felt was an unfair initial offer during negotiations.Really interesting stuff.
It wasn’t all bad news though as Friedman also had some great things to say about Jason Spezza and the impact the recent Team Canada snub could have on his performance. He’s expecting a big start from Spezza early on this season. Friedman also had some really positive comments about Bobby Ryan and his potential to thrive in a Canadian market.
I’ll let you listen to the rest of the interview for yourself.
