After a long and seeming complicated saga, Nikita Filatov has finally reached an agreement to play in the KHL this season.
According to Dmitry Chesnokov of Yahoo Sports Twitter account, CSKA has reached an agreement with Filatov to play the remainder of the season in the KHL.
This situation has been bizarre from the get go. When the Sens made the decision to loan Filatov to the KHL, it was safe to assume they believed signing a contract would not be such a long and drawn out issue.
Yesterday, Filatov's agent told the CSKA team to either sign Filatov to a contract or trade his rights to another team. If they didn't, Filatov apparently planned to return to Ottawa. Apparently some issues with the CSKA team and a new sponsor led to the hold up.
Now that Filatov is signed to a deal, he will finish the season in the KHL and could potentially return to Ottawa next season. Filatov will play his first game in the KHL on Thursday.
Game day post coming in a little bit.
