While questions continue to swirl around the current CBA negotiations, the Ottawa Senators took care of some business of their own earlier this afternoon.
The Sens have announced the signing of first round pick and Ottawa 67's star, Cody Ceci. The defenceman was Ottawa's 15th overall selection in the 2012 Entry Draft and is expected to at least push for a job at training camp.
Ceci's contract is a three year, entry level deal.
Ceci was a member of Team Canada at the recent Canada/Russia challenge but never seemed to find his game in that tournament. Important not to put too much stock in a mid-summer series like that one but you can be sure Ceci will be looking to improve on that performance if he has a chance to attend the Sens main camp this fall.
Obviously the Sens were thrilled to grab Ceci on Draft Day and really think he can be an important player for the team down the road.
Both Bryan and Tim Murray talked about the possibility of him sticking with the big club as early as this season but with guys like Borowiecki and Wiercioch both pushing for spots, Ceci is going to have a fantastic camp.
