BSens March On!

If they didn’t already have your attention they certainly should now!

The Binghamton Senators, backed by a shutout from blue-chip goaltending prospect Robin Lehner, defeated the Portland Pirates on Friday night, closing out their best of seven series in six games. Bingo now awaits the winner of the Wilkes-Barre Charlotte series

Bingo scored :25 seconds into this one and really never looked back.

I didn’t have a chance to watch the game but by all accounts Jared Cowen looked quite comfortable in his debut with the team. He picked up an assist on the team’s opening goal and took a regular shift on the PK.

Robin Lehner was the real story in this one though. He moved to 7-2 in the playoffs since stealing the starting job from Barry Brust and stopped 36 shots in game six while being named the game’s first star. For Sens fans that may have been worried about Lehner earlier this year, it’s awesome to see him take his game to another level in the playoffs.

He definitely had an up and down year but is closing out on a strong note, which is a great sign for his development as a player.

There is no schedule available for this series yet as the Penguins and Checkers are headed to Game 6 of their series. Charlotte has a 3-2 edge. I really hope we can organize another road trip down to Bingo but obviously the scheduling of the games will be key. Here’s hoping they get another Saturday night home game.

Congratulations to the BSens and their fans down in Bingo!
