In a day that has been full of surprises, the Ottawa Senators have saved one of the biggest twists for last.
After watching their captain walk away earlier in the day, the Senators acquired Bobby Ryan from the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for Jakob Silfverberg, Stefan Noesen and a 1st round pick. It's an incredibly steep price to pay but one that Ottawa could afford to do with so many prospects in the system.
In Ryan, the Senators are getting a four time 30 goal scorer that instantly adds that power forward type player that Ottawa was after. And at 26 years of age, he's a guy that will be around for the foreseeable future, assuming they can get him signed to a deal after the 2014/105 season.
It has been a wild day in the Nation's Capital but this trade Bryan Murray made has certainly taken at least some of the sting out of losing Alfie earlier this afternoon.
Wow.
Ottawa…. Im coming in hot
