(UPDATE 11:09 AM)-According to Binghamton Senators reporter Joy Lindsay, it sounds like Robin Lehner will make his first pro playoff start tonight against Manchester. Great opportunity for the young goaltender to get some valuable experience.
With a line up full of players that had gained valuable NHL experience down the stretch, it looked like the Binghamton Senators were poised to make some noise in the AHL playoffs. But after last night’s 6-3 loss on home ice, the BSens find themselves on the brink of elimination, trailing the Manchester Monarchs 3-1.
Game 5 goes tonight in Bingo.
A hat trick from Ryan Potulny wasn’t enough as the team’s defence along with starter Barry Brust struggled and the Monarchs made them pay. Manchester had just 26 shots on the night and scored six.
Perhaps the most disappointing part about the Bingo loss is it puts our plans for a Binghamton road trip in serious danger. If the Sens were to advance to the second round we have been in talking about organizing a bus trip to take in a Binghamton playoff game. All the more reason to cheer on a first round comeback!
I’ll update this post in a little bit with some line up notes for Game 5 and quick update on the NHL team’s search for a head coach.
