All the talk in the hockey world is going to be about playoffs the next little while and that is also the case at the AHL level. The Binghamton Senators begin their pursuit of the Calder Cup tonight when they play Game 1 of their series with the Manchester Monarchs.
Puck drop is just after 7:00 PM with all the action available live on the Team 1200.
While the Sens season may have ended at the NHL level, the fun is just getting started for the AHL affiliate.
A number of NHL regulars will suit up for Bingo including the likes of Bobby Butler, Colin Greening and Erik Condra. Should be interesting to see how those guys respond in the pressure of playoffs. Binghamton is expected to make some serious noise in this year’s playoffs.
Unfortunately it looks like they will be without leading scorer and league MVP Corey Locke for Game 1. He has been nursing a shoulder injury the last little while and will not be in the line up when the Sens open their series with the Monarchs. Here is a look at how the forwards are expected to line up.

While our focus will shift to the AHL playoffs a little bit, I will try to make sure I continue with any relevant updates about the NHL team.
Early indications are Bryan Murray will try to move up from the 6th spot. In an interview on the Team1200 he mentioned the possibility of moving up to three but I was told last night that they have already held preliminary (very preliminary) talks with the Avalanche about the second overall pick.
