Anderson Starts, Michalek Returns

The 28th place Ottawa Senators return home tonight to take on the Washington Capitals.  Craig Anderson, who was excellent last night, makes his second straight start and Milan Michalek returns to the Ottawa line up.

Puck drop is scheduled for 7:38 PM.

The Sens are coming off a shootout win over Lundqvist and the New York Rangers last night at MSG. Craig Anderson shut the door through five round and Erik Karlsson was the only shooter to score, snapping a low shot that beat Lundqvist on the glove hand side.

The win pushed Ottawa past Colorado in the standings. The Avs fell to the Leafs on home ice.

Roman Wick was return to Binghamton this morning to make room for Michalek. Curtis McElhinney will miss the games for personal reasons which means Mike Brodeur will dress as the back up tonight.

Will post the forward lines when they become available.

I know a lot of fans are concerned about draft positioning right now and I don’t blame them. But the more I think about it, it really seems like there is little difference between picking at two or three. Assuming the order holds in the lottery, a third overall pick is likely to land the Sens one of Landeskog or Nugent-Hopkins.

A win-win, I’d say.

Of course that’s assuming either the Oilers or Avalanche take Adam Larsson. I really don’t see how the Oil can pass on Larsson. They need help on the back end and he seems like exactly the type of prospect they’re missing.

If Ottawa passes the Panthers and picks outside the Top 3, then you have to think Ryan Strome becomes the target. Again, a terrific prospect and probably the player with the most upside in the entire draft.
