Anderson Starts at MSG

Fresh off signing a four year/$12.75 million extension with the team, Craig Anderson will make the start in goal tonight at Madison Square Garden. The combination of McElhinney playing well and a minor injury kept Anderson out of the last few games but he returns to the net tonight.

Puck drops at 7:08 PM.

The New York Rangers are red hot coming into their match up with the Sens having won five straight and solidifying their playoff position in the process.  The Blueshirts currently sit 7th in the Eastern Conference but have a six point cushion over the 9th place Hurricanes.

With that said, this is obviously an important game for the Rangers tonight.

No line up changes are expected for the Sens heading into tonight other than the goalie switch. That means Patrick Wiercioch will play is second straight game in the NHL. He struggled at times on Tuesday night but will be hoping for a better performance tonight. A stronger effort from his defence partner Filip Kuba would certainly help.

The forward combinations remain unchanged for Ottawa.

Michalek won’t play tonight but they do hope he can rejoin the line up tomorrow against the Caps. The team also mentioned that Alfredsson could accompany the team on an upcoming road trip and resume skating. Still no timeline on his return.

For fans watching the bottom of the standings, and I think we all are by this point, there are a handful of games that could impact the positioning at the bottom of the pack. Here are some games to keep an eye on tonight.

For you third jersey nuts, a good find from the blog Icethetics. This is an image from the slide show that was shown at the hot stove event I talked about. It shows a teaser of the heritage jersey the Sens will wear next season.

Hard to tell anything concrete from the image but that looks an awful lot like the O on the front. This matches with what I have been told to expect from the new design.
